Argument at LSU game leads to fight with off-duty LSP Trooper, charged with battery

BATON ROUGE, La. — An off-duty Louisiana State Trooper was charged with two counts of simple battery after a fight at the LSU vs. UCLA football game on Saturday, according to authorities.

State police said Artellus Bellard, 30 of Lake Charles was off-duty and started the fight after a verbal argument with two men.

"During the game, law enforcement personnel responded to a disturbance in the stands and discovered that a physical altercation occurred between the off-duty Trooper and two male subjects," a release said.

Bellard has been a state trooper (Troop D Patrol) since 2021. He was released on a summons with a pending court date.
