HOUMA, La. — The Houma Police Department arrested an Alabama man after they say he got into an altercation with another man at a bar and then shot the man dead.
It happened on Saturday at about 1:30 a.m. at the Thirsty Thirty Sports Bar on Barataria Avenue in Houma. When responding officers arrived, they found Marvin Reed, 39, of Carondolet Alabama dead.
“The investigation revealed that Reed and the suspect, Christopher Boutwell 39 years old of Theodore Alabama were at the bar together as they were acquaintances,” the Houma Police Department said in a release.
“While at the establishment a physical altercation took place between the two of them. After the altercation, Boutwell went to his vehicle retrieved a firearm and shot Reed multiple times. Boutwell then left the scene in his vehicle, but he was located by patrolling units and taken into custody without further incident.”
Christopher Boutwell was then arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex for one count of Second-Degree Murder.
The investigation is still ongoing.
