METAIRIE, La. — An alleged struggle over a firearm between two juveniles during an attempted robbery in the 1200 block of Lake Avenue in Metairie, La., led to a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a male youth on Tuesday, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the scene at around 10:30 a.m. and found a juvenile had sustained a mortal gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon an initial investigation that included interviews with several juveniles who were present in the residence at the time of the shooting, detectives were told by alleged attempted robbery victim that a struggle over a firearm with the deceased youth led to the fatal shot.
This is an ongoing investigation.
No criminal charges have been warranted at this time.
