'When does it stop?' | Man dies on I-10 days before wedding anniversary

"You know, at this point, it's all just speculation of what really transpired, but my reality is my husband was working and now he's dead."

NEW ORLEANS — A social worker, musician and comedian, Andrew Stiller was moonlighting as an Uber driver on Lundi Gras when someone opened fire on his car.

He and his passenger, 21-year-old Johnell Hampton, were killed. Stiller was just days before his wedding anniversary.

Stiller and Hampton were inside a black Dodge near the intersection of Bundy Road and North I-10 Service Road when they were shot. Their car then veered through a fence and onto I-10 where it crashed into a white Nissan.

Investigators say a woman inside the Nissan also suffered a gunshot wound and a 35-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were critically injured in the crash.

"You know, at this point, it's all just speculation of what really transpired, but my reality is my husband was working and now he's dead," Andre Stiller's wife, Melissa Stiller, said. "I didn't know when he left that day that it was going to be the last time that I ever held and kiss him. Touched him. Told him I love you."

Melissa Stiller says rideshare driving has become too dangerous and that something needs to be done to protect drivers. She worked as a rideshare driver for years and now, she may never go back.

"When does it stop?" She said. "There's all this protection for passengers, you know what I'm saying?"

For now, she still has to come to terms with the sudden shock of losing her husband.

No arrests have been made in the case. If you have any information on this shooting, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.
