NEW ORLEANS — A total of seven people were arrested after staging a 2016 car crash in New Orleans and making false insurance claims, police say.
According to Louisiana State Police, the investigation into the incident began in August 2018 when detectives received information from the Louisiana Department of Insurance in reference to possible fraudulent insurance claims from a crash that occurred Oct. 14, 2016 in New Orleans.
The crash happened at the intersection of Law and Forstall streets. Detectives found that a rented GMC Sierra truck and a Chevrolet Malibu were used in the staged crash. Following the crash, seven people filed a report with NOPD and made insurance claims with the intentions of receiving a monetary settlement.
State Police say one of the seven people involved confessed to the fraud scheme and arrest warrants were issued.
Each of the seven individuals were arrested for two counts of auto insurance fraud, criminal damage to property with the intention to defraud, injuring public record and filing false records.
The following people were arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center accordingly:
- 31-year-old Davis Lee White of Chalmette
- 50-year-old Stephanie Dubea Whicle of Chalmette
- 29-year-old Rachel Lynn White of Chalmette
- 47-year-old Craig Michael Spadoni Sr. of Meraux
- 27-year-old Marvin Dale Walker of Violet
- 25-year-old Dorothyjane Rose Hohensee of New Orleans
- 42-year-old Lydia Dorothy Hohensee of Meraux
