ZACHARY, La. (AP) — Two men accused in a deadly home invasion in Louisiana have pleaded not guilty in the case.
WBRZ-TV reports brothers Adrian and Courtland Curtis entered the pleas Friday in the slaying of 73-year-old Frances Jane Schultz.
A third suspect, Donevan Brown, had his hearing pushed back after his family hired a lawyer.
All three face charges of first-degree murder and aggravated burglary.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said DNA evidence and a note with one of the suspects' name tied them to the home in Zachary where Schultz was killed March 21.
Investigators say the men forced their way inside while Schultz's husband was at a funeral, bound her with duct tape and shot her in the head multiple times.
Adrian Curtis had worked for Schultz's husband baling hay.
