NEW ORLEANS — Two men were apparently shot while walking down the city's busiest street early Sunday morning, then took an Uber to the hospital for treatment, police said.
A 22-year-old man and 23-year-old man were walking in the 400 block of Bourbon Street after midnight when they heard a pop, NOPD officials said.
Shortly after, one man began to feel pain in his calf and the other in his foot, they told police. They hurried to a business in the 800 block of Bienville Street when the second man noticed blood filling up in his shoe.
The two men called an Uber, which took them to the hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the incident, which they have classified as an aggravated battery by shooting.
The victims told investigators that after hearing the initial gunshot, they flagged down a security guard who pointed to a nearby balcony.
Police have not released the names of the victims, nor named suspects in the incident.
The apparent shooting comes weeks after a fatal shooting on Bourbon Street that took the life of a local nurse walking past the incident and critically injured a security guard.
Anyone with information on the apparent shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
