Man accused of chasing girlfriend with kids in car, still on the run

“We do hope that he would just turn himself into authorities,” said Chief Travis Theriot.

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. — Home surveillance video shows the result of what Houma police say started as a domestic issue on January 1st.

“As far as the details on the exact argument, I’m not exactly sure, but it did stem from some type of verbal argument between the two of them,” said Chief Travis Theriot.

Theriot says Treyon Williams, 31, was driving an SUV, chasing his girlfriend, who was driving a car. Williams allegedly tried to run her off the road several times before he crashed into her car on Glenwood Drive, hitting a truck and a house in the process.

“You have no regard for human life whenever you do something like this,” said Theriot.

Chief Theriot says inside the car with the girlfriend, were their three young kids. The chase didn’t stop there. Both vehicles drive off, with the SUV still chasing the car.

“To do this to your own significant other and children, it’s absolutely disturbing that someone could be so heartless,” said Theriot.

A week later, Williams hasn’t been found. As investigators try to track him down, Chief Theriot says this case is an example of how domestic issues can turn violent.

“In 25 years, this is the first time I’ve seen anything like this happen, where you have a chase all over town, get rammed into a house,” said Theriot.

That house is where Lance Bergeron calls home.

“Right here you can see where it pushed the sheetrock, the whole wall,” said Bergeron as he pointed to the wall that separates his living room from a kid’s bedroom.

Bergeron’s house, which just got repaired from Hurricane Ida, is damaged again. Seeing what happened in the video and knowing how many kids are in the neighborhood, he’s thankful no one was hurt.

“Good thing it rained that morning because if not, he would have probably hit three to four more kids just playing in the yard,” said Bergeron.

Originally from Lafourche Parish, Chief Theriot says Williams had been living in Houma and doesn’t have a record with the police department. He now faces a list of charges, including nine counts of attempted second-degree murder.

“We do hope that he would just turn himself into authorities,” said Theriot.

Chief Theriot says that would be the peaceful end to a scary situation.

Police say the girlfriend and the three kids were not physically injured, just shaken up.

If you know where Treyon Williams is, call Houma Police or Crimestoppers. There is a $1,000 reward.
