18-year-old arrested for killing pedestrian in Bay St. Louis hit-and-run, police say

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss — Two days after an investigation began in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman in Bay St. Louis, Miss., on Saturday, police have made an arrest.

18-year-old Bryan Scott Hathcock, Jr. is accused of hitting pedestrian Brandy Thames on U.S. Highway 90 near the intersection of Dunbar Avenue at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, witnesses identified a vehicle matching the description of Hathcock's dark-colored pickup truck as the one involved in the fatal incident before being driven from the scene eastbound on Hwy 90.

Witnesses also described the suspect as having a similar age and appearance as Hathcock.

The victim was transported to the hospital where she later died.

The Perkinston native is being held at the Hancock County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond issued by Bay St. Louis Municipal Court Judge Stephen Maggio.
