Where’s my Louisiana tax refund? Here’s how you can check

The deadline to file the Louisiana individual income tax information is May 15.

NEW ORLEANS – More than 400,000 people in Louisiana have received their individual tax refunds this year. But if you have not received yours, there’s a way to check on its status.

Instead of waiting on hold on the phone, taxpayers can visit the Louisiana Department of Revenue’s website. Users must go to www.revenue.louisiana.gov/refund and enter their social security number, the relevant tax year, their filing status and the refund amount shown on their tax return.

State leaders say taxpayers can typically expect their state refunds within 60 days of the filing date if they filed their taxes electronically. Residents who filed paper returns will have to wait as many as 14 weeks.

Refunds can be delayed if taxpayers did not keep their address current with the Department of Revenue, if there are math errors on the tax return or if their return triggers fraud indicators.
