MINNEAPOLIS — Is that "Canadian Tuxedo" look (jeans on the bottom, jean shirt or jacket on top) leaving you feeling a big unhip, or out of style? Are your favorite denims just falling apart? Minnesota-based Target might have the cure.
Target is launching it's first-ever Denim Take Back event for Aug. 4-10, a chance to recycle your outdated or worn denim for a new item, and get 20% off in the process.
Here's how the Denim Take Back works.
- Bring up to five denim items, in any condition, to a Target store and drop them in the marked in-store boxes.
- Receive a Target Circle promo code for 20% off all denim apparel, including Target-owned brands like Universal Thread, Wild Fable, Goodfellow & Co, Cat & Jack and national brands like Levi's.
- Redeem the Target Circle offer between August 4-10.
"Our new Denim Take Back Event is an easy way for families to give their used denim a new life," said Gena Fox, Target's senior vice president of merchandising for apparel and accessories. "With back-to-school and college shopping top of mind for families, we're offering this 20% off Target Circle deal to make it even more affordable for our guests to refresh their denim wardrobes, while also doing our part to reduce waste and keep used denim out of landfills."
Target said in a press release that its new trendy options include baggy and cargo silhouettes, wide and flare leg jeans and more, starting at an affordable 10 bucks even before the discount. Consumers can shop either at one of Target's nearly 2,000 retail stores or use either Target.com or the Target app. Shoppers who have the Target Circle card can save an additional 5% on denim items.
Program organizers say the Target Denim Take Back is based on the company's successful child car seat trade-in program, designed to help reduce waste and emphasize sustainable brands and experiences.
