METAIRIE, La. — There could be some relief coming to drivers on Veterans Blvd. who get backed up near the crowded Chick-fil-A near Cleary for several hours each day, especially during lunch time.

The Jefferson Parish Council approved a couple of ordinances on Wednesday that will allow the store to reconfigure and expand its drive-thru and parking lots to put more of the vehicles on the property and off the street, according to NOLA.com.

The Chick-fil-A will be allowed to expand onto a vacant, 5,000-square-foot  lot at 25th Street and Danny Boulevard.

NOLA.com quoted the owner-operator of the CFA at that location as saying he wanted to be “the best neighbor possible.”

Currently the location can accommodate 23 cars at a time in its drive-thru. That will be expanded to 50 spots and on-site parking will increase from 31 spots to 50.

Customers at nearby businesses will also appreciate the gesture.

The construction timeline has not been set, and, as with most improvement projects, there may be some short-term pain before the long-term gain.
