French Quarter Halloween celebrations

A flash mob in Jackson Square set thrilling good vibes. But we might not be the only ones who come out and play today.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans is always a scary good time, but especially during Halloween.

“In New Orleans it always seems like every day is Halloween,” voodoo priestess Bloody Mary said. “There are more spirits, more visible at this time of year so it creates more excitement in a different type of way. We never walk alone in this town whether you know that or not.”

Whether you’re here for the tricks or just for the treats, New Orleans is definitely the place to celebrate Halloween, and many are in the spooky spirit.

“e’re going to go to the Faulkner book house check that out, maybe the pharmacy museum and later we’re going to eat at antoines for dinner and a ghost tour,” Niki and Chris Kirschner said, who are visiting New Orleans.

A flash mob in Jackson Square set thrilling good vibes. But we might not be the only ones who come out and play today.

“Spirits like the energy of the partying so Halloween would make them more attracted to come out,” Bloody Mary said. “Just so you know…spirits wear costumes too I’ve seen funny hats unusual outfits.”

Bloody Mary says the whole city is haunted but the spirits really like to fly to the French Quarter.

“Yes of course, the French Quarter has a lot more spirits than the rest of the city because it’s the oldest part of the city however there’s sections of city park that are pretty intense as well,” she said.

Watch out because Tuesday’s cold breeze may not just be the cooler temps.

“It’s actually hard to tell if it’s a spirit chill if it’s cold outside. But spirits give you the chill from the inside. One of the first signs a spirit is near is when your hair stands up on edge,” Bloody Mary said.

But she doesn’t want you to fret, instead, she says you can lift your spirits in more ways than one this Halloween.

“Spirits like spirits, too so I always toast to them as I go out.”
