NEW ORLEANS — A heads up for people in the French Quarter Thursday night:
You will see a lot of people around the Cabildo, Pirate's Alley, Cabildo Alley and the Presbytere with guns, but don't worry, it's all for the filming of the TV show "Queen of the South."
City officials say the filming of USA Network's popular action series will begin in those locations around the St. Louis Cathedral at 7 p.m. and go overnight, wrapping up around 7 a.m. Friday.
The production may also involve some special effects, but no simulated gunfire is scheduled. Police officers will be on the scene to assist film crews and the public.
"Queen of the South" is in its fifth season of filming. It stars Alice Braga as "Teresa," a woman who flees Mexico and becomes a reigning drug smuggler trying to avenger her lover's murder in the U.S., according to IMDb.
Season four of the show takes place in New Orleans. The fifth season is set to air in June.
The last time "Queen of the South" filming took over a part of the city was in June of last year, when the 400 block of Tupelo Street in the Lower Ninth Ward was the scene of a moving vehicle stunt and fake gunfire.
