NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans lost several legendary musicians this year and the Grammy’s took notice.

To end their annual In Memoriam presentation, the Grammy’s put up Dave Bartholomew, Art Neville and Dr. John. Then, as the camera faded back to the stage Trombone Shorty and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band were ready to give them a New Orleans send off on national TV.

It wasn’t the same as the roaring send off all three legends got in the streets of New Orleans, but it sent a clear message that New Orleans’ loss was felt throughout the music community.
