NEW ORLEANS — Janet Jackson will be performing in New Orleans in July but the date and site have changed.
Jackson, one of music’s iconic entertainers, will be performing for the fourth time at the annual Essence Festival of Culture in the Caesars Superdome. It is not certain which night Jackson will perform, but the festival is slated for July 5-7.
Jackson was previously set to headline her own concert at the Smoothie King Center as part of her Together Again tour on July 23. That appearance will no longer take place.
Jackson has previously performed at the Essence Festival in 2010, 2018 and 2022, with festival organizers saying the 2022 appearance was sold out and the highest grossing night in the festival’s 30-year history.
Last week, Essence revealed that a reunion of the Cash Money Millionaires collective of rappers affiliated with the New Orleans label would take place during the festival. However, no artists have been specified beyond Cash Money co-founder Bryan “Baby” Williams, aka Birdman.
In addition to the nightly concerts inside the Superdome, the festival will include programming on networking, finance, careers, wellness, fashion, beauty and more at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and other venues citywide.
The Essence Festival is an annual highlight of summer tourism in New Orleans with tens of thousands flocking to the city to participate or attend the concerts, lectures and empowerment speeches.
