NEW ORLEANS — Two Mardi Gras krewes have their eyes on the Krewe Of Nyx's Wednesday night spot after the parade group was pulled from the 2025 Carnival schedule, Nola.com reported.

This comes after the New Orleans City Council voted in May to unanimously remove the Krewe of Nyx from the Mardi Gras parade permit list following the Krewe's failure to meet the minimum standards for parade units, including bands.

The removal of Nyx left a gap in Wednesday's parade schedule, leaving "only the relatively small Druids parade to entertain crowds on the Uptown route", our partners reported.

Now the Krewe of ALLA and the Krewe of Symphony hope to claim the open spot.

According to our partners, Krewe of ALLA usually parades on the first Friday of parade season and Krewe of Symphony rolls in Jefferson Parish.

Arthur Hardy, Carnival authority, told our partners that there may be a waiting list but "no one has seen the list."

The Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Council plans to meet on Jul. 25 and will make its recommendation to the City Council afterward.
