NEW ORLEANS — The Krewe of Endymion has eschewed the usual dip into Hollywood for its grand marshals in 2024, choosing New Orleans city officials to serve as Co-Grand Marshals of this year’s parade.
Serving in the capacity is New Orleans city CAO Gilbert Montano and new NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
Montano has served as the city’s chief administrative officer for nearly six years under Mayor LaToya Cantrell, while Kirkpatrick was sworn in as police chief in November 2023.
“Through his decades of experience as a city administrator, he has brought his passion and focus for support and services to our city's Mardi Gras celebration, which by most recent reports, has a $900 million economic impact on our community,” said the krewe in its announcement of parade royalty.
“We are also extremely proud and honored to have NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick riding in our parade as our Co-Grand Marshal. She has embraced our city's unique culture with enthusiasm and care.”
Endymion is annually one of, if not the most elaborate parades of the Carnival season. Its Extravaganza will feature entertainment from Sting and Flo Rida.
