NEW ORLEANS — The Krewe of Muses, Chaos, and Babylon rolled through Uptown on Thursday night, kicking off a weekend of parades across New Orleans.
With Bacchus Sunday right around the corner, the krewe is planning ahead, just in case it rains on their parade.
“Mardi Gras is here, and it’s Bacchus Sunday,” Bacchus Krewe Captain Clark Brennan said. “We’ve worked our butts off for 12 months.”
"If it's just rain, and there's not a lot of wind, and there's not thunder and lightning, just like a football team we're going to play. We're going to roll,” Brennan said.
With a chance of scattered storms in Sunday’s forecast, the Brennan is hoping for divine intervention.
“We pray a lot, and Mother Nature will do what she’s going to do,” Brennan said.
If their prayers aren’t answered, one thing is for sure. The krewe will still Rendezvous, rain or shine.
“If we get wet, we can still have fun at the convention center and still have a great party,” Brennan said.
Brennan says this would be a first for the krewe. Bacchus has been rolling in parades since 1969 and has never been rained out.
“I’m optimistic, I’m positive. You never want to say never, but there’s a first for everything,” Brennan said.
The krewe is still working on a contingency plan for the parade, should weather intervene.
