Krewe of Chewbacchus to roll with 'Nothing to See Here' parade Downtown

One of the first parades of carnival season, Chewbacchus will roll on Sat., Jan. 20, 2024 at 7 p.m.

NEW ORLEANS — The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is back another year for their annual parade in devotion to The Sacred Drunken Wookiee.

It's the thirteenth year rolling, the krewe is excited for the weirdos, artists and creative nerds to gather for their 'Nothing to See Here' themed parade. Over 3,000 members will participate with over 100 subkrewes following behind.

Parade goers can expect to see some of their favorite subkrewes including, Space Vikings, the Vampiric Council of New Orleans, the Krewe of Really Awesome Parodies (K.R.A.P.), and Han & The Solo Cups.

Bandoliers and bando blocks are the most coveted throws, the krewe said. The bandoliers are a reference to what Chewbacca wore in the Star Wars series. Once parade goers collect a fur, fabric bandolier, they can then add hand-decorated blocks to it with Velcro.

Following the parade is the Chewbacchanal, that will be held at the Fillmore New Orleans. There will be live music and DJs throughout the night, featuring Urban Heat, Wuki, and Topaz.

Krewe of Chewbacchus will roll on Sat., Jan. 20, 2024 at 7 p.m. The parade will start at Franklin Avenue and St. Claude, turning on Elysian Fields and then unto Decatur Street, ending at Decatur and Conti Street.
