NEW ORLEANS — They laid it out, but had to pack it up.
Parade goers in Uptown, ready to take in a night of carnival, were met with the news all three Thursday night parades would be postponed because of threatening winds.
“You know, safety first, I mean, that's life,” Nick Hanna said. “If I was on a float and it was high winds I probably wouldn't want to be up there either.”
Floats, decorations, tree limbs and power lines were big concerns from city hall, putting a damper on folks of all ages.
“I wanted to catch some things and see all of these parades,” one boy said.
“We were super upset at the time because we were just so pumped, you know everyone is excited to come out for the parades and it just got canceled and we're just disappointed,” Paul Myers said.
That disappointment was also felt inside the parade, but one marching group turned it into a night out. The Camel Toe Lady Steppers put in a lot of work preparing a theme, choreography and costumes for their march in Muses.
Because marching groups won't be part of the new lineup, the gals weren't about to let all that prep work go to waste. They broke out their flashy routine during an impromptu visit to a bar on Tchoupitoulas.
"Of course we're all disappointed but at the end of the day we have our wonderful sisterhood,” Ashley Shabankareh said.

Back on the parade route, those celebrations, just like those parades, will just be added to another day's fun.
“This is where we all get together and celebrate and enjoy the Muses parade,” Donna Nold said.
“It's five parades tomorrow and a bunch on Sunday too so, it's going to be a good day,” said one parade goer out packing up his belongings.
