NEW ORLEANS — Bayou Boogaloo released its daily music lineup Monday, with Grammy winners, drag queens, local legends and national hip hop icons splashing their way into each day of the festival.
Known for its flotilla-fest on Bayou St. John, the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, has ticket options for land and water, allowing festival-goers to watch all the fun from the comfort of a rowboat or a pool float, along the banks of Bayou St. John.
Bayou Boogaloo has been scheduled to go from Fri. May 17 to Sun. May 19.
The festival's Friday opening headliners are bassist/vocalist Nik West and New Orleans based singer and puppeteer Miss Pussycat.
On Saturday, GZA, best known as one of the founding members of the Wu Tang Clan, has been scheduled to headline for that day, alongside the group The Phunky Nomads. Morning 40 Federation, a rock band from the Ninth Ward has also been slated to headline Sunday.
The all-woman Led Zeppelin tribute band Lez Zeppelin has been slated to headline on Sunday. "Because I Got High," and "Crazy Rap," rapper Afroman has also been scheduled to headline Sunday's show.
Other highlights from the festival lineup is the Sunday performance from Buckwheat Zydeco Jr., who won a Grammy award for his album "New Beginnings" in February. And New Orleans bassist and singer George Porter Jr., who founded the legendary funk group The Meters, back in the 1960s. Porter has been scheduled to perform on Friday with his band Runnin' Pardners.
