HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — WWL-TV captured six SunCoast Regional Emmy Awards Saturday night, including one for Overall Excellence.
The Awards were handed out at the ceremony in Hollywood, Florida and cover the region that includes: The entire state of Florida, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama, Thomasville, Georgia and Puerto Rico.
The six awards were in a wide diversity of topics and specialties.
In addition to overall excellence, given to General Manager Tod Smith, WWL-TV received awards for Morning Newscast (Kim Hardeman-Bayonne), News Feature (Devin Bartolotta and Whitney Hill for “Look at this F-N Street’), Medical Story (Meg Farris and Ricknise Riggins for “Thumbs Up” on a 3-D printed artificial thumb), Sports Story (Katie Moore for her “Ida Strikes” feature on a bowling alley wiped away by Hurricane Ida), and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (Charisse Gibson and Ricknise Riggins for “Follow the Line”).
