WWL-TV nominated for 12 Suncoast Emmy Awards

WWL-TV is the only station in New Orleans to be nominated in both categories.

NEW ORLEANS — WWL-TV is honored to have been nominated for 12 awards in the 46th Annual Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards.

Two of those nominations include Overall Excellence and Overall News Excellence. WWL-TV is the only station in New Orleans to be nominated in both categories

The 10 other nominations range from Eyewitness Investigations to feature pieces. Our very own anchors Katie Moore and Charisse Gibson have each been nominated for two awards.

WWl-TV received the following nominations:

  • Investigative – “Danger at the New Airport,” Katie Moore/Derek Waldrip
  • Investigative – “The Man Behind the Warehouse,” Katie Moore/Derek Waldrip
  • Light Feature – “Teen Chess Champion,” T.J. Pipitone
  • Business/Consumer News – “Hoping for a Good Mardi Gras,” Derek Waldrip
  • Crime – “In the Dark,” Charisse Gibson/Derek Waldrip
  • Historical/Cultural – “Dr. Daddy-O,” Charisse Gibson, Adam Copus
  • Lifestyle – “From Nothing, Something,” Derek Waldrip
  • Religion – “Losing Faith,” David Hammer, T.J. Pipitone
  • Weather – “Survival on the Water,” Erika Ferrando, Michael Millon
  • Editor (short form content) – “The Legacy of Dr. Daddy-O: New Orleans First Black DJ,” Adam Copus
