NEW ORLEANS — WWL-TV was recognized by the New Orleans City Council on Thursday in honor of its upcoming 65th anniversary on the air.
WWL-TV's management team and anchors from the Eyewitness Morning News were invited to Thursday morning's city council meeting.
Council President Helena Moreno praised WWL-TV in particular for the emphasis on investigative reporting.
"It just seems that (investigative reporting) is a little bit of a of a dying trait. Everyone's so focused on the breaking news aspect of news and the immediacy of instant news from social media and web, from reporters having to do so much more..." Moreno said.
"The fact that you all are still having such an emphasis on the importance of allowing reporters to deeply dive into very important issues within our city, I think it speaks volumes to the type of station that you are."
WWL-TV will celebrate its 65th anniversary on September 7.
