NEW ORLEANS — WWL Louisiana was honored with two Edward R. Murrow awards for Charisse Gibson's series "Follow the Line."
The awards are given out annually by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
The "Follow the Line" series looks at the development of neighborhoods in New Orleans and how some of what we know today was formed directly by "red lining." That's the process banks and others used in the last century to keep Black families from purchasing homes in white neighborhoods.
The series won in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion category, as well as Excellence in Video. Congratulations to Charisse Gibson and photojournalist Ricknise Riggins!
Gibson thanked the Radio Television Digital News Association in a tweet.
"Thank you to RTDNA for recognizing Follow the Line for Excellence in Video and Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done on this project. We have much more to come," Gibson said in a tweet.
