NEW ORLEANS — Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Hurricane Katrina inspired Brooke Laizer’s Atmospheric Science career by 5th grade.
A Mount Carmel Academy and Mississippi State University alumna, Brooke earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She also received the Louisiana, Mississippi Associated Press’ Best College Weathercast Award during Spring 2017.
An Operational Meteorology major, Communication minor, she is currently working toward acquiring a prestigious American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal.
Brooke immediately began her profession at WFXG FOX 54, forecasting for Augusta, Georgia’s Central Savannah River Area, and WPDE ABC 15 Myrtle Beach, forecasting for South Carolina’s Grand Strand. Brooke continued on to WAPT ABC 16, serving Jackson, Mississippi, the state's capital city, where she received her education on meteorology. She then spent five years with WGNO ABC 26 as the Good Morning New Orleans Meteorologist before joining WWL-TV's Channel 4 family most recently.
Brooke is grateful to live out a lifelong dream forecasting for the station she grew up watching in her beloved city. New Orleans inspired Brooke's career 19 years ago when Hurricane Katrina hit. There's no place like home, and serving the community that her heart's always been within has proved exceptionally fulfilling, especially after Ida. She also claims winning Royal Sonesta's Greasing of the Poles in 2023 as a personal career highlight.
When not at work, Brooke loves volunteering, traveling, and rooting for the Saints, Pelicans, and MSU Bulldogs.
