NEW ORLEANS — Brandon Walker is from Algiers and is a proud graduate of St. Augustine High School. The Emmy and Murrow award-winning anchor began his career in news in New Orleans during high school as a desk assistant at WGNO.
Then, Walker hosted the Purple Pride Show, St. Aug’s alumni affairs program on Cable Access TV. He also worked the assignment desk in the days leading and following Hurricane Katrina.
Walker worked at CBS News’ national desk as a desk assistant before stops reporting in western Massachusetts, upstate New York, and Southwest Connecticut.
He most recently worked in Houston, first as a reporter, then as an anchor. He’s reported on everything from hurricanes along the East Coast to the trial of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis Police Officer convicted in the death of George Floyd.
Walker is focused on politics, courts, schools, and issues of equity in his reporting. He also loves stories about food!
