NEW ORLEANS — The eastbound lanes on Interstate 10 on the Bonnet Carré Spillway Bridge were closed Friday morning due to a vehicle fire.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the crash happened before 10 a.m. near mile marker 213. The agency did not share any additional details about the car fire, including what caused it or any possible injuries.
Drivers are advised to use an alternate route or expect delays.
Authorities are urging drivers to use caution after an Arctic air mass brought freezing temperatures and strong winds to the region overnight. The strong winds are driving wind chills factors below freezing and can be a hazard to drivers.
