NEW ORLEANS - It's a different kind of workout that's made its way to the Crescent City. The place that puts it on is starting off a new season with two brand new members.
They're cute, cuddly, definitely adventurous and the newest addition to the Paradigm Farms family.
"We bought a male and female with the idea of getting these babies and we finally did," said co-founder Jim Seely. "We got the male and female about a year and a half ago and now we just got our first set of kids."
This local urban farm also hosts cookouts and concerts for the community. The goal is to create experiences, which brings us back to the goats. Because, in about a week, they'll be the newest participants of the farms Goat Yoga.
"At first I was like you got to be kidding me," Seely said. "But people really enjoy it."
"Obviously Goat Yoga speaks for itself," said McKensie Kirchner.
Kirchner is one of the instructors and a co-founder of NOLA Tribe Yoga. She says she was excited to hear about the birth of these kids.
"It was literally like a baby announcement for one of your family members," she said. "We were ecstatic."
She says Goat Yoga may sound silly, but no kidding around, since its start nationally in 2016, people can't get enough of it.
"It brings you more together as a community, as a class being able to partake in something that's different and exciting," she said. "This season we'll have the goats out while people do yoga. The goal is having them on their backs and moving between their legs."
Being one of the only places in town that offers it, classes are already selling out.
"Just seeing people really enjoy it is the best part," Seely said.
The goats are already showing off their best moves, and are jumping for joy as this unique opportunity gets underway.
A name contest is underway for people to name the kids. For more information you can go to the Paradigm Farms Facebook page and website.
A list of classes (which will be held from March 12th-April) is also listed there. Classes are $20, and filling fast, so Kirchner says they may extend past April. Another source of information is Nolatribeyoga.com.
