NEW ORLEANS — A vehicle fire could be seen from the Westbank side of the Crescent City Connection (U.S. Highway 90-B) on a traffic camera streaming on the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's official website Tuesday night.
Shortly after 8:40 p.m., a viewer contacted WWL Louisiana with information regarding a car engulfed in flames from an incident that began approximately 15 minutes earlier.
Five minutes later, a WWL employee witnessed firefighters putting out the blaze near General De Gaulle Drive exit.
"Lots of smoke and kinda scary," she described the scene.
First responder lights can be seen on the scene by CCC Tower CAM 1 at LA Hwy 428.
No word on the cause of the fire, or any injuries sustained in the incident.
Traffic could be seen backing up behind the fire on the westbound span. The DOTD reported right lanes were blocked until the accident was cleared.
