Viral school threat spurs fears of attack at Slidell high schools

"There is NO CREDIBLE THREAT to any of our schools here in Slidell," Slidell Police shared Wednesday.

SLIDELL, La. – Police say there are no credible threats after another viral school shooting post made its rounds on social media Wednesday and prompted fears of an attack at two Northshore schools.

An Eyewitness News viewer shared a photo of a Facebook user named “Ray Andres” posting “I won’t be telling people what my name is, but I will bring a gun to school tomorrow. Be prepared to hear shots.” The viewer’s screenshot included a second post from Andres saying “SHS is the school I want.”

The screenshot of the posts went viral on Facebook and spurred fears locally of an attack at Salmen High School or Slidell High School.

The Slidell Police Department confirmed Wednesday that the post originated in the state of Ohio and was shared all over the country where schools use “SHS” as an abbreviation. Police say there are no credible threats to schools in Slidell.
