METAIRIE, La. — Troopers say a Mississippi man is in custody after he fatally struck a pedestrian while driving on Airline Drive in Metairie on Memorial Day.
Louisiana State Police say 67-year-old Ricky Lee was walking northbound on US Hwy 61 when a box truck driven by 24-year-old Khalil Brice struck him.
The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office pronounced Lee dead at the scene. Brice was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt in the crash.
Authorities say its possible both men were impaired at the time of the crash.
Brice was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on vehicular homicide charges.
The investigation continues.
