Infant facing life-threatening injuries after dog attack

The dog, a two-year-old American Bully, was seized by Animal Control officers, according to JPSO.

BRIDGE CITY, La. —  The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says an infant was severely injured in a dog attack on Sunday.

Deputies were called to the 200 block of 10th Street in Bridge City around 12:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found that a four-month-old boy had been attacked by a family member’s dog.

JPSO says the baby was put on the floor in an infant carrier after his family entered the home. The dog immediately attacked and was pulled off by a family member.

The infant was taken to the hospital for treatment. He has multiple injuries including severe lacerations and a fractured skull. 

"The injuries are considered life-threatening," JPSO said.

The dog, a two-year-old American Bully, was seized by Animal Control officers, according to JPSO.
