NEW ORLEANS — The pet cemetery, Heaven’s Pets, at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery suffered damage to their building when a fire erupted early Sunday morning.
New Orleans Fire Department crews were on the scene of the fire at about 5:00 a.m. and got the fire quickly under control.
Heaven’s Pets, located on the grounds of historic Metairie Cemetery, is a pet cremation and bereavement center that offers pet aftercare services, cremation, grief resources, and pet memorialization.
The pet cemetery said in a statement that no one was hurt in the fire and that repairs are planned. It is unclear how the fire started or the extent of the damage to their cemetery services.
“We have put measures in place to remain operational and offer continuous service to our families,” said Patrick McCausland, president of Heaven’s Pets. “We care deeply about our families and are here to support them through their journey following the loss of a pet. We thank the New Orleans Fire Department who responded immediately to help us during this difficult event.”
