NEW ORLEANS — An 18-wheeler carrying a stock of live chickens overturned on northbound I-59 officials with St. Tammany Fire Protection District #11 reported Tuesday morning.
It happened just before 4:00 a.m. near the Honey Island Swamp exit. I-59 northbound was closed and drivers had to take Highway 11 as an alternate route.
The northbound lanes of I-59 reopened around 8:00 a.m.
Officials said the crash involved an 18-wheeler and a sedan and strewn cages with chickens across the interstate.
No word if anyone was injured in the crash.
