CHALMETTE – An early morning crash on Sunday claimed the life a Chalmette man, Louisiana State Police say.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on LA 39 east at Torres Drive. Louisiana State Police say 32-year-old Daniel Scott was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado east on the highway when his truck left the roadway to the right and entered a canal.
The truck was upside down and submerged. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.
Louisiana State Police say Scott was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and impairment is suspected, however toxicology tests are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
